Misty
January 1986 to September 18,1999

Misty

I adopted Misty in 1988 while I was living in California. She was my very first rescue and I loved her dearly!! She came into my life in January and I was told she was about 3 years old. I took her everywhere with me. She went to the stables with me to help clean Jester's stall, she went on almost every date I had, she even got to go to a couple of drive-in movies!! If there was ever one dog who has done it all with one person, it was Misty! She went through heartbreaks with me, a marriage, a divorce, another marriage and plenty of BIG dogs to make her even tougher than she already was!! Sometime in 1993 she was diagnosed with the Auto Immune Disease. Not a very common illness, but seen frequently in Shelties. It is believed to be genetic so it can't be caught "air-borne". This little girl fought it with every bone in her body! God gave her the will and strength and she used it!!! Misty lived with the auto immune for 6 long years. (Dogs have been known to only live 6 months to 2 years with this disease.) There are different types of auto immune and she had the Lupus type. When she was first diagnosed you could hardly see anything wrong with her skin. As she got older, her nose was always red and scabby... she was a lucky one that it didn't move onto any other part of her body.

Smiley (CH.Poko's Smiling Dutchman)
Jan 20,1988 - September 27,2002

Smiley

Smiley was born in 1988 and became a Champion on June 24,1995. He was a true showman and as an old dog proved to be a tough little **** !!! He was blessed that he nothing major wrong with him, only a couple of years of low thyroid. He even still had all his teeth!

Smiley came to live with us in September of 1995 only to leave us on September 27,2002. He was 14 years and 9 months old. He was such a fun dog to have around and was mainly Scott's dog. I never realized how much noise he made until he was gone. The house has definitley felt a void since he left. He now joins Misty at the Rainbow Bridge to wait for us when we come to get them. Sweet dreams to both of you wonderful souls. We love you!

My Friend
by Cor Marjee

They tell me of bridges full of colour and the light
I just see this tunnel as black as the night
You in my arms, your eyes going dim
The chance we return home is ever so dim
We enter this tunnel, full of darkness and dooms
Remembering nice things, the enterence there looms
We go in together, there is light we can see
It comes in your eyes too, let's go home and flee
But as we turn back, the dimness returns
You have to stay here, in my eye a tear burns
We go ever further, your muscles get strength
There's a steep cliff there, more than arms length
You jump over happily and bark "hurry here"
I just stand still, my heart filled with fear
There's light on your side now and colours and all
You left me behind, afraid to jump and fall
So while you go further and disppear
I have to go back with a heart full of fear
What is an investment and what does it pay?
I've never paid something with so much dismay
But what did I get back and what was returned?
A heart filled with memories and a love never earned >BR> A friendship so pure and so total, has never been seen
A smart and bright partner every minute so keen
I know that we'll again meet, when it is I who jumps,
You will be waiting for me, and friendship triumphs,
I have to live further while you go to rest
The pain just feels awful, although it's for the best
I'll never forget you, even in my heart
Love and Friendship forever, even when death did us part
